Her legacy
Uncompromising Faith

My mom had countless remarkable attributes.  One of these was her uncompromising faith.  She loved the Lord.  She loved sharing her love for the Lord with others.  It seems as if she was everyone’s prayer partner.  She was definitely mine.  Everyday of her life was a living testament of her faith.  She loved to worship.  She had a worshiper’s heart.  I put some worship songs in the Audio folder that were dear to her.  She loved singing Testify to Love by Avalon with me.  It was one of her all time favorite songs.  She always sang the tenor part while I sang soprano.  It was so cute!  I bet she has the most beautiful voice now.  She would always encouraged me to have intimate quiet time with the Lord as well.  She would say, “Be still and quiet yourself before the Lord.  Listen to His still small voice".

She would always tell me “Jen speak positively.  Out of your mouth comes blessings and curses.”  Even when the cancer was eating away at her body she never spoke negatively.  She only spoke of her healing and her testimony.  She did not receive an earthly healing but I believe that she received the ultimate healing.  She has no pain now and she is free to worship.  I know that it is hard to keep your faith from wavering especially  when you loose someone you love so dearly.  I try to think of my mom every time my faith starts to falter.

Mom- Thank you for being an astounding model of faith for so many, including me.    Jen

Dedication Ceremony and Remembrance Speeches
On October 18, 2005, there was a bench dedicated to my mom at Harmon Elementary School where she taught.  At the dedication ceremony four children gave remembrance speeches.  They are copied in her legacy so if you get a chance check them out.

How I Became Excellent
My name is Sara Harper and I would like to share a few memories about my second grade teacher, Mrs. Baker.  I am glad that Mrs. Baker helped me learn multiplication.  This is a skill that I've used in both third and fourth grade.  I remember that she made me write those problems over 12 times, and I didn't really like it then- but now I am very thankful for it.  We also learned cursive and now I can write very neatly.  I would consider myself a good reader now, and that definitely comes from Mrs. Baker's Royal Readers.  Royal Readers is what she called all of her students.  Without her I am sure I would not be the excellent student I am today.
Making Learning Fun
Hi!  My name is Altonique Taynor.  Mrs. Baker knew how to make learning fun!  I remember learning about rocks in science.  I brought in a rock that looked like a dinosaur tooth.  Mrs. Baker then told us about a fossil that she had.  She said it was a dinosaur tooth that she plucked out of the mouth of a dinosaur when she worked as a dentist!  Our class knew it was a joke but we laughed and laughed.  Another example of a fun time in her class was during a pizza party when she turned on rock music and we all did the cha-cha!  These are just two examples of my fun times in her second grade class.
One Special Person

I am Billy Beach and I am going to tell you about one special person in my life.  That is my second grade teacher, Mrs. Baker.  She was my favorite teacher.  She was kind, funny and generous.

She was a kind-hearted teacher.  Instead of making us do worksheets, she would make a game for her lessons.  If we forgot something- like a quarter for lunch, she would lend us one.  That's why my teacher was kind.

She was also very funny.  She always had a funny story to tell.  If you fell down she would say, "Have a nice trip?  Did you see Mickey Mouse?"  Instead of being hurt, we would laugh.  That is why she was funny.

She was also generous.  She would give us treats and extra recess.  I didn't care about treats or recess, I just thought it was generous.  That is why she is one special person in my life.

A Forgiving Teacher
Mrs. Baker was a fantastic teacher.  I am Adrian Negron, and I think this because she was a happy and forgiving person.  At Harmon, we flip cards for bad behavior.  She encouraged me to be better in school.  What I really liked is that if I behaved better in a day, I could be moved back to level one.  That is what I remember about Mrs. Baker.
